  • Together with Qantas, we have created the world’s leading airline partnership which opens up an extensive network to our customers and provides a seamless travel experience. Emirates customers have one-stop access to most parts of the combined Qantas and Emirates network and can benefit from the usual Emirates baggage allowance and services.

    Emirates customers can choose from more than 30 Australian and New Zealand destinations across the Qantas network.

  • Existing Emirates benefits and policies extend to Qantas codeshare flights, such as baggage allowances, lounge access and frequent flyer benefits. We continue to work with Qantas to further strengthen customer benefits within the partnership, and we will keep you updated.
  • Emirates flights in the 5000 series are operated by Qantas, and Qantas 8000 series flights are operated by Emirates. The airline that you will fly with will be confirmed during the booking process.

Emirates and Qantas booking

  • International and domestic codeshare services are available for immediate sale. This covers services between New Zealand and Australia, Australia and Asia, Australia and Dubai, and Dubai and London as well as within the domestic network.

  • Emirates customers can book codeshare flights, subject to availability, through their preferred travel agent, Emirates Contact Centres and emirates.com.

  • Sorry, currently you can only book Qantas Economy Class, Business Class or First Class seats.
  • Yes. Changes can be made via emirates.com and through Emirates Contact Centres.
  • You can apply for UAE visas on emirates.com if you’ve booked Qantas flights, provided you hold an Emirates 176 ticket and the journey into and out of Dubai carries the EK flight reference.
  • No. Normal ticketing procedures apply.
  • If you are transferring from an Emirates international flight to a domestic flight you will need to clear customs and collect your baggage before you go to the domestic terminal. Some international airports have domestic transfer desks that allow you to check your bags in for your domestic flight before proceeding to the domestic terminal.

Emirates and Qantas - planning your trip

  • Chauffeur‑drive service is not available on flights with other airlines and/or where Emirates is the marketing carrier only. This applies to codeshare flights operated by Qantas. Emirates Chauffeur-drive is not available for First and Business Class tickets issued by Qantas.

    The applicable Chauffeur Drive terms & conditions are those of the carrier operating the flight for which the Chauffeur Drive service is used to get to or from the airport. This applies regardless of whether your ticket may be a codeshare ticket issued by a different carrier.

    Itineraries which are exclusively between New Zealand and Australia, on Emirates‑operated flights, are not eligible for Chauffeur‑drive. From 1 May 2022, our Chauffeur‑drive service is not available for customers who have booked with Qantas. This also applies to customers who booked with Qantas and are travelling on an Emirates codeshare service.

  • You can use the Emirates lounges in Dubai when flying with Qantas if you:

    • are travelling in First Class or Business Class, or
    • are an Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold or Silver member, or
    • are a Qantas Platinum One, Platinum or Gold Frequent Flyer member.
  • We recommend that you use the lounge of the operating airline to ensure you’re close to the correct gate, and have access to boarding calls and other flight information.
    The only exception from this rule is lounge access at London Heathrow (LHR):
    • If the flight is operated by Emirates and you’re eligible to use the lounge, you should visit the Emirates Lounge.
    • If the flight is operated by Qantas, First Class passengers can use the Emirates Lounge. Other passengers eligible to use the lounge should use the Qantas lounge.
    • Qantas Club members should use the American Airlines Admirals Lounge.
  • Emirates Skywards Gold members will have access to Qantas Club Domestic Lounges in Australia. Emirates Skywards Platinum members will have access to Qantas Domestic Business Lounges (where available) and Qantas Club Domestic Lounges in Australia.

  • If you are on a Qantas-operated flight (with a QF code), Qantas baggage allowances will apply. This includes QF flights redeemed using your Skywards Miles, and connecting Australian domestic and trans-Tasman flights. However, if you are on a codeshare flight (with an EK flight number, but operated by Qantas) then Emirates baggage allowances will apply.     Emirates will not be changing any of the free baggage allowances including those for infants or sporting equipment.

  • When you transfer from an international flight to a Qantas domestic or trans-Tasman flight, or vice versa, within 24 hours on the same ticket the international allowance will apply to both sectors. If you are travelling on separate tickets you need to present both tickets when checking in your baggage. Some exclusions and restrictions apply.   • Existing Emirates Skywards additional baggage allowances will be honoured on Qantas-operated flights.

  • Please note that online check-in is not available if the first flight in your itinerary is not an Emirates flight. This applies to all codeshare flights not operated by Emirates.

  • No. If you are travelling on an Emirates-operated flight you need to check in at the Emirates counter, and for Qantas-operated flights at the Qantas counter.
  • Yes. If your itinerary includes both Emirates and Qantas services, you will be checked in through to your final destination.
Customers travelling on Qantas routes as part of an Emirates codeshare or redemption booking, including both international and domestic Australian routes, will need to pre-order halal meals on emirates.com.

  • Qantas applies a charge to passengers wishing to choose specific seats on international flights, with the exception of First Class and Business Class passengers and Emirates Skywards and Qantas Frequent Flyer members of tiers Silver and above. To select and pay for a seat with Qantas, visit Manage Booking on qantas.com (Opens in a new window).

    For domestic flights operated by Qantas you are unable to choose a specific seat on the aircraft. However, you can request a window or aisle seat.

    Codeshares

    • Codeshare is a co-operative arrangement whereby airlines carry passengers whose tickets have been issued by another airline. The intent is to provide passengers with a wider choice of destinations than any individual airline might offer on its own.

      When you book a codesharing flight, your ticket will bear the flight number of the airline through which you booked your travel, though some legs of your trip will be on flights operated by another airline and bearing a different flight number from the one printed on your ticket.

      Emirates has links with dozens of airlines around the world, allowing us to serve more than 500 onward destinations. Check our our travel partners page for more information.

    • In most cases, no: with an onward booking through emirates.com, your baggage is checked in at the start of your journey all the way through to your final destination.

      There are some exceptions to this, such as taking a connecting flight from a different airport, or countries which require you to collect your baggage for security or customs purposes. Please check with your local Emirates office before you travel to confirm specific procedures.

    By booking your whole itinerary on one ticket you ensure that, in most cases, your onward travel will be guaranteed – meaning that if you miss your connection through no fault of your own, you will be rebooked on the next available flight.

    • emirates.com allows you to make online onward bookings in all classes of travel.

  • Yes: during the booking process, you can select which of our partner airlines you’d like to fly with when you search for flights. The booking system will also inform you which airline is scheduled to operate a particular flight on codeshare routes.
